Step 1: Pruning

Time to discard inaccurate scan results.

Updated over 6 months ago

Before any accounts appear in your Account Manager, we ask you to review the scan results that appear in your Results List. We go wide and cast a large net to start, but sometimes, we will bring in results not associated with an online account.

Why do I have to review scan results before adding them as accounts?

Yorba identifies potential accounts from your email inbox by scanning for sign-up emails and automated mailing lists (e.g., newsletters), which allow us to infer the potential existence of the accounts that sent them.

That's why you should review your Results List and discard any results that feature duplicate accounts or any results that may have gotten mixed up in the scan but don’t relate to real or active accounts.

Discarding inaccurate scan results (e.g., duplicates) helps reduce the volume of data to import by removing irrelevant items.

What is the difference between Dismissing, Removing, and Deleting in Yorba?

Dismiss:

You can dismiss potential accounts from your Results List before importing them to Yorba.

Your Results List is a list of potential accounts Yorba has inferred based on the results of your inbox or payment method scans. These results are not 100% accurate, and we encourage you to dismiss any inaccurate or duplicate results to clean up the list of accounts before importing them into your Account Manager.

Remove

You can remove accounts from your Account Manager whenever you don't want them to show up in Yorba or if you notice any inaccurate or duplicate information.

Delete:

This action refers to permanently cutting ties with a specific vendor/company by deleting your account.

Yorba can guide you through the process with step-by-step guides, but to safeguard your privacy in most cases, you must log in to the platform you want to cut ties with and delete the account following our instructions.

Don't have time to review each result?

Don't worry; you can click on "Add Results" to add every potential account to your Account Manager. Once you've imported your scan results, you can always remove or edit any inaccurate information by navigating between the tabs in the Account Manager.
