My Scans Finished, Now What?

Time to start cleaning and organizing your digital footprint

Updated over 6 months ago

Once the initial scan by Yorba is complete, our five-step approach will help you clean up and organize your digital footprint more efficiently:

1. Pruning:

Before any accounts appear in your Account Manager, we ask you to review the scan results that appear in your Results List. We go wide and cast a large net to start, but sometimes, we will bring in results not associated with an online account.

Discarding inaccurate results (e.g., duplicates) helps in reducing the volume of data to import by removing irrelevant items.

No time to review your results? Don't worry; you can click on "Add Results" to add every potential account to your Account Manager. Once you've imported your scan results, you can always remove or edit any inaccurate information by navigating between the tabs in the Account Manager.

2. Unsubscribing from Mailing Lists:

On Yorba's homepage, you'll find unsubscribe suggestions from mailing lists whose emails you rarely open. We encourage you to keep the ones you care about and unsubscribe from the rest.

Given the large number of newsletters most people are subscribed to, this step can feel daunting. Our free plan encourages you to take action on five mailing lists per month. If you want to power up your game, check out our premium plan, which will give you unlimited monthly functionality.

This step not only declutters your inbox but also reduces the risk of phishing and spam.

3. Addressing Data Breaches:

Yorba monitors the web for data breaches that might have compromised your online accounts or personal information.

You can visit the Data Breaches section to see if your accounts have been compromised.

We recommend changing the passwords immediately to secure the accounts you still use. Consider deleting accounts that you no longer need. After taking the necessary actions, mark the breach as resolved in Yorba.

4. Deleting unnecessary accounts

Once your results are imported to the Account Manager, it's time to regain control of your personal data by removing unnecessary accounts.

In the Account Manager section, click on the logins tab to access the full list of all the accounts Yorba has inferred based on your inbox scan. We recommend that you go over the list, cut ties, and delete any accounts you don’t need or are not using anymore.

This step reduces the risk of your personal data being sold to data brokers or getting leaked in a data breach.

5. Reviewing Fees and Subscriptions:

You can import accounts associated with paid subscriptions and fees by linking your bank accounts. Yorba will scan your payment history to find recurring payments indicative of account fees. For more information on how to connect paid accounts, visit this article.

Yorba will never ask you to share or connect credit cards or bank accounts with us. Instead, we use Plaid to securely mediate a connection to your bank(s).
