Step 2: Unsubscribe from Mailing Lists

Next, address your email subscriptions.

Updated over 6 months ago

On Yorba's homepage, you'll find unsubscribe suggestions from mailing lists whose emails you rarely open. We encourage you to keep the ones you care about and unsubscribe from the rest.

Given the large number of newsletters most people are subscribed to, this step can feel daunting. Our free plan encourages you to take action on five mailing lists per month. If you want to power up your game, check out our premium plan, which will give you unlimited monthly functionality.

This step not only declutters your inbox but also reduces the risk of phishing and spam.

Looking for the full list?

You can find the full list of all the mailing lists you are subscribed to and more targeted ways to sort them out by going into the Account Manager section and clicking on the Mailing Lists tab to get an overview of all the mailing lists you have subscribed to over the years sorted by frequency, open rate, last received date and category.

We recommend sorting your mailing lists by frequency or open rate and unsubscribing from those you no longer wish to receive.

Why am I still getting emails from newsletters I’ve unsubscribed to?

There are a couple of reasons this could be happening:

  1. Some vendors use multiple names to send from a single domain. This means that you might be getting emails from “[email protected]” and “[email protected]”.

On the Mailing Lists tab of the Account Manager, Yorba has grouped all mailing lists from a unique sender under the Vendor’s name. Click on the vendor to expand the list, and then use the unsubscribe button to unsubscribe from specific mailing lists.

  2. Some vendors do not honor the unsubscribe request and refuse to comply with the CAN-SPAM Act. If you are not interested in this kind of relationship with a vendor, you can access Yorba’s deletion directory, and we’ll guide you through the steps to permanently delete your account.

  3. Yorba can (rarely) make a mistake when attempting to unsubscribe. In most cases, you will get an error message letting you know that Yorba could not unsubscribe you from a certain mailing list.‌

If you experience any issues when unsubscribing from mailing lists, please let us know by sending us an email at [email protected] or by reaching out via chat.
