Initial account setup

An initial Yorba setup should take you around 30 minutes. Follow these steps to get started.

Welcome to Yorba! It's time to make your life on the internet a little less annoying by helping you find, monitor, manage, and reduce your online accounts across logins, paid subscriptions, data breaches, and mailing lists. Follow these steps to get started:

An initial Yorba setup should take around 30 minutes on your side. Our part (scanning the internet for all your accounts) is a bit more delicate. Because we always put your security first, it can take us up to 24 hours to get your initial scan results.

1. Authenticate your account

After creating an account, we'll send a confirmation link to the email you used to create your account. For your security, we need to verify that the email address is yours before proceeding.

Go to your email provider and look for a Welcome to Yorba email. Click on Verify my email to authenticate your Yorba account.

2. Label your email address

The first time you log in to the platform, you will be prompted to label the email address you used to create the account. Choose a label that best matches what you use this email for. This will enable you to sort all your accounts associated with that email address in the future.

3. Map your digital footprint

After a brief platform tour, you will land on your Homepage. Don't worry if it looks empty; it will populate as you try Yorba's different methods for mapping your digital footprint.

Keep in mind that Yorba will not start scanning the internet for your digital footprint without your explicit consent.

On the left side panel, click Continue Setup to display Yorba's methods to map out your digital footprint. There is no set order; just pick the one you feel the most comfortable with.

4. Be patient!

We take time and precautions to keep your data safe while scanning your email inbox and transaction history from a payment method. We are dealing with sensitive information here! You should get the first set of results within 24 hours, but keep in mind we will probably find more accounts over the first couple of weeks.

Depending on how much you've asked us to scan. It might take up to 24 hours to find accounts associated with your email inbox or payment methods. We'll notify you in the app (and via email) when your results are ready for review!

5. Decide what gets added to Yorba

Once the first batch of results is ready, we will notify you in the app (and via email). Log in to your account, and you'll be prompted to review the accounts we've found.

Mapping your digital footprint is not an exact science; review the scan's results before adding them to Yorba. You can always remove accounts you no longer want to show up on Yorba, and we won't store any data associated with these.

6. Get control of your digital footprint

Once your accounts are added to Yorba, you can start managing your digital footprint like a pro. On the left side panel, you will find the following sections:

  • Homepage: shows stats related to your digital footprint, spots mailing lists whose emails you rarely open, and suggests which to unsubscribe from.

  • Dashboard: gives you a visual breakdown of your online presence.

  • Accounts: shows an in-detail breakdown of your accounts.

  • Data Security: flags any accounts that might have been compromised and advises you on what to do next.
