We are self-funded

Yorba is self-funded by the small team who created it – primarily folks from Ruca, a creative co-op on a mission to make online experiences less annoying.

Ethics matter; we have not taken a cent from VCs or other outside investors. We’re obviously trying to make money in the long run, but funding it ourselves lets us avoid external pressure to shortcut our ethics to do so.

Our team

For years Chris Zeunstrom and Nolan Cabeje have been running Ruca, a decentralized, not-hierarchical design co-op. This got them thinking about decentralization and applying user-centric principles to the Internet.

Like many of us, Chris and Nolan were frustrated with the growing number of logins, endless business tools, and ways to collect (and monetize) data about users and consumers. Rethinking the internet and building practical tools requires solid technical knowledge. With David Schmudde joining as a co-founder and CTO, Yorba emerged as a digital wellness platform.
